Pre-Gospel Approach

Most people in America know that Jesus Christ died on a cross 2000 years ago. Most don’t understand why. Would you like a practical way of helping them to discover that truth without having to tell them and without arguing? Who wouldn’t!

Then consider doing two things: 1.) Don’t make statements that your friends and family could disagree with. 2.) Focus on asking them a series of questions. It is hard to argue with questions…right?

So ask your friends and family members if you could ask them just one question. The question is, “Would you consider yourself to be a good person?” Then listen to them for as long as they want to talk. Eventually you will see an opportunity to ask the second “introductory question,” and then go through the rest of the questions from there. You’ll be amazed at what happens.

2 Introductory Questions

1. Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
2. Do you mind if I challenge your answer? (If he or she answers "yes")

4 Commandment Questions

1. Have you ever LIED? What does that make you? [A LIAR]
2. Have you ever STOLEN anything? What does that make you? [A THIEF]
3. Have you ever used God’s name as a SWEAR word? The Bible calls that Blasphemy
4. Jesus said, if a man looks at a woman to lust for her, he has committed ADULTERY in his heart; have you ever done that? (When asking a woman say…”Jesus said, that if a person looks at someone to lust for them, they have committed ADULTERY in their hearts.” Have you ever done that?)

1 Summary Statement

1. So…by your own admission, based on only four of the commandments, you are a liar, a thief, a blasphemer and an adulterer at heart.

4 Conviction Questions

1. If you were to be judged by God on the basis of these 10 commandments, would you be innocent or guilty?
2. Based on these same 10 commandments would you go to heaven or hell?
3. Does that concern you?
4. What do you think you can do about it?
